I'm watching this in 2024. I remember when this first came out when I was a kid. Now, things like this are more important than ever in this climate. Yo Joe, muthafuckas!

I remember renting the VHS of this movie when I was a little fella. I would rewind and watch this scene over and over again. I barely remember a single detail of the movie itself, but I had this opening memorized.

It's unfortunate that kids don't wake up to watch this anymore.

Where was Serpentor during this battle? He constantly gives Cobra Commander a hard time about his leadership abilities only to not be a part of this battle.

This Statue of Liberty is definitely made of titatium. The music, balloons, mechanical props, bunch of dancers in the air wearing blue leotards descending in tandem, lights, fireworks, flashy transitions and bombastic entrances; is this “G.I Joe: The Musical”?

This intro is insane....also...like Cobra you want to take over the world and one of your big moves is to bomb the Statue of Liberty? You do that and you are not getting GI Joe fighting you, you are getting the entire US military bombing you into the stone age.

2:26 I love how they made that sequence of General Hawk in full-auto mowing all them Cobras down with that smooth camera swivel. It’s just a few seconds of BADASSERY all worth it 👌

I love how this tells a story with barely any dialogue and mainly just a song… all in three minutes… and it’s the opening

People always talk about how traumatic Transformers the Movie was, yet here we see Duke kill Major Bludd with a bazooka shell to the jetpack in the first minute of the film. I know this is just a cartoon and all, but if the concussion blast didn't break his spine, the 300-foot fall certainly did.
